Registrations are NOW OPEN

Published Sun 27 Sep 2020

Registrations for Season 2020/21 with Athletics Wollongong are now open.  To register now, go here: https://www.athleticswollongong.org.au/registration/

There have been a couple of changes to registration types:

  • There is no longer a Club Membership.  In previous seasons this gave members eligibility to enter a subset of ANSW events, namely: Club Champs, Relays, Country and State Masters.  In Zoom meetings leading into the season, ANSW have said that they will instead be opening up some ANSW events to those with a Community membership.  Such athletes would enter for a slightly higher fee than those with a Full membership, and the events they suggested this may occur at included some of those covered by the old Club Membership.
  • There is now a Dual Membership listed.  Previously, Dual-eligible athletes (i.e. those members of a Little Athletics Centre in the U12-U17 ages) specified a Senior Club during their Little A's registration to join up.  This season, to claim a Dual Membership, they must also register via a Senior Club, much as any other athlete does.  Another change: Duals will also have separate numbers - i.e. different to their Little A's ones - to wear at ANSW competitions.
  • ANSW will be pushing the benefits of Community Membership.  Community Membership gives you the ability/insurance to compete at Club-run events.  Because there are still attendee cap numbers on large-scale events (like All Schools, Relays, etc.), ANSW will be highlighting the value of membership by promoting participation in Club-run events.  We have always welcomed all athletes from other Clubs to our meets (and if they wish to be eligible for prizes/trophies/records they have the option of paying our Club Fee: talk to our Registrar).  Note that other Clubs though may have conditions of entry to their events (e.g. wearing of a Club uniform), so always check first.
  • There is no longer a NSW Masters membership Add-on available.  Last season you could purchase a NSW Masters membership during your registration with Athletics Wollongong (such a membership gives those 30+ eligibility to contest the National Masters Championships, set State Masters records, appear in rankings, etc).  You now have to purchase it separately here: https://www.nswmastersathletics.org.au/membership.  Note that it is the 'Association Membership' you want; the regular fee is $40 but you can save $10 if you sign up there before November 1st.

Active Kids Vouchers are now fully integrated into the registration system.  If you are a NSW Resident, enrolled in school, between 4.5 and 18 years of age (inclusive) and have a medicare card, you can apply a $100 voucher from the State Government towards sporting group registration costs; like ours!  You need to have your voucher before registering: it can't be used afterwards.  To claim your voucher go to: https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-active-kids-voucher

Any athlete with an Open, Concession or Dual membership will receive a set of numbered bibs.  These must be worn when competing at an ANSW event (NB - Athletics Wollongong requires neither numbers or a uniform to be worn at our own meets).  Bibs are collected at the first ANSW event that the athlete contests.  Be careful with your bibs, if you lose them you'll have to contact memberships@nswathletics.org.au to arrange a new set and you'll be charged $15 for the replacements.

The trialling member procedure is changing this season.  Previously, prospective members could attend up to two Athletics Wollongong meets before registering; completing a Trialling Member Form beforehand for insurance purposes.  This option has been removed by Athletics NSW for this season.  Please read this News-Post for more information on how people can trial with us in 2020/21.

If you were a member with us last Season (including Duals), use the Renew button at the bottom of the Registration page.  This is also the case if you were a member of another ANSW-affiliated Club last Season and wished to move to Athletics Wollongong this season

Any new members (or those returning to us after a season off) will need to use the Register button.

If you're after a mid-season transfer from another ANSW Club to AW, contact us: athleticswollongong@gmail.com

At any point of the season you can upgrade your Community Membership into a higher level (i.e. either Concession or Open, whichever you are eligible for).  The only cost is the difference in pricing between the two.  Therefore, if you are unsure if you will compete beyond Athletics Wollongong's meets, or you're doubtful whether Championship events will go ahead in a format to your liking, it makes sense to register as a Community member now and upgrade your membership later, if need be.

  1. To upgrade your membership, you'll need to press the "member login" button, found at the top-right of any page on the AW website
  2. Press the Forgot Login details to get your details and reset your password, if need be.
  3. Upon login, find the Membership Status section and click on the Upgrade button.
  4. Select which membership level to upgrade to.  Click Next Step.
  5. Fill in any details required/review the details there and Confirm Upgrade.
  6. An invoice will be created for the upgrade.  Once it is paid: that's it!  You're upgraded.
