Delta Amidzovski has been announced as a member of the Australian team going to the U20 World Championships. At just 15 years old, she is the youngest in the squad.
Delta will be competing in the 100m Hurdles, after surpassing the qualification standard a number of times throughout the season and taking out the U20 National Title.
Unfortunately, it's not a free ride and there is a large athlete levy to pay. A family friend has started a GoFundMe (shared on Alex Amidzovski's Facebook page, so it has been verified). If you can spare some cash, you can donate here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/delta-amidzovski-journey-to-the-u20s-world-title
Those without money to spare are welcome to instead donate their labour at a Bunnings BBQ that AW will facilitate, with all profits going to the Amidzovskis. This is scheduled for the Wollongong store on June 11th. A call for volunteers will be made in the coming weeks.
In regards to the Australian U20 Worlds team, here is their schedule:
- there is a pre-departure camp on the Gold Coast in late May
- the team will contest the Oceania Championships in Mackay in early June
- they will then depart for Miami in late July for a week's preparation ahead of the:
- U20 World Championships in Colombia, 1st - 6th August

The 100m Hurdles heats are scheduled for Friday, 5th August, 12:05am Wollongong time (local time = 9:05am, 4th August).
